When You Move Out, Don’t Throw it Out!

Share Our Stuff (S.O.S) is WashU’s annual move-out collective drive. This university-wide effort is designed to make it easy for all students to donate their unwanted items at move-out in a manner that benefits our community and keeps usable goods out of the landfill.

We noticed that students leaving for the summer often have trouble storing or relocating their things, and we want to make the move-out process as easy and as sustainable for everyone. We hate to see piles of perfectly usable furniture or appliances in the dumpster, instead of going to a new home. In May, SWAP partners with ResLife, WashU Facilities and the Office of Sustainability to organize a massive end-of-semester collection. We take mini-fridges, microwaves, and dorm essentials and sell these items at discounted prices during our move-in sale.
